At LUSTR Detail paint correction is our specialty and we are proud to stake our reputation on it. Paint correction is a long and labor intensive process through which paint is properly compounded, polished and restored to bring back that like-new or even better than new finish. Utilizing some of the best products and safest techniques, we’re able to take paint in any condition to a whole new level of clarity and shine, without jeopardizing the paint thickness.
Here is a video demonstrating the dramatic results we can accomplish through proper paint correction. Be sure to select the HD setting for the best quality.
NOTE: We recorded this video to show exactly what we do on a daily basis, which is correcting paint via machine polishing. Here we can see the difference between our Level 1, 2 and 3 Paint Correction. The far left 1/4th of the trunk received 1 stage of polishing, which greatly improved the gloss and eliminated many light swirl marks. The 2nd 1/4th (going left to right) is the condition of paint before we did any work on it, which is obviously extremely damaged and really needed some work. The right half of the trunk received 2 and 3 stages of polishing, which safely eliminated most defects leaving a mirror finish. In the middle of the right half of the trunk, there is a thin section showing how the Level 1 compares to the Level 2 and 3 correction. While the level 1 looks great compared to the before condition, the level 2 and 3 correction blows it out of the water leaving near perfect paint.
Many times we will perform such testing on a client’s vehicle in order to show exactly what results can be expected from each level of correction. Depending on the condition of the paint and level of sensitivity, we can normally remove anywhere from 50-70% swirl marks and lighter defects with Level 1 correction and 85-95% with Level 2 or 3 Paint Correction.
Below are a few sample photos showing what paint correction can accomplish on a moderately swirled paint job.
We focus individually on each vehicle and develop a process that’s specifically tailored for that vehicle. Before any paint correction work is scheduled, we perform a thorough assessment. During this assessment we evaluate the paintwork, measure the clearcoat thickness and thoroughly discuss the owner’s concerns and expectations. In addition to the paint correction services, we highly recommend an application of a Protective Coating to help maintain and preserve the finish for a long period of time.
Paint Correction Detail
The Paint Correction Detail is our most valuable and beneficial detailing service for almost any vehicle. Utilizing 1-2 or more steps of machine polishing, the paint on the vehicle is greatly improved and many times looks better than new condition. This is achieved by removing unsightly swirl marks, greatly improving deep scratches or defects and bringing out a clarity that brings the shine, gloss and reflections of the paint to a whole new level. While the level of improvement will greatly depend on the paint type and condition, we are normally able to accomplish 85-95% defect removal after two or three stages of paint correction. Recommended as initial service for vehicles with paint in fairly poor condition, having moderate defects like fading, oxidation, large amounts of swirl marks, scratches, etc. – Time required: 8-12 or more hours
